Agricorp began mailing Risk Management Program application forms to producers on September 25, 2007. For more information on the Risk Management Program, please visit the Agricorp website at www.agricorp.com, or call their toll free number at 1-888-247-4999.
The Risk Management Program (RMP) is a three-year pilot program that provides price support for grain and oilseed producers to help offset losses caused by low commodity prices.
RMP is based on an industry proposal for a risk management program and was developed in consultation with Ontarios grain and oilseed industry and the Ontario Federation of Agriculture.
The province is funding the RMP at its traditional 40 per cent share and continues to encourage the federal government to provide its 60 per cent share.
Producers who are enrolled in the Production Insurance program should automatically get an RMP application.
Producers who do not participate in Production Insurance, or who have not received an application by mid-October, should contact Agricorp either through their website at www.agricorp.com or their toll free telephone number 1-888-247-4999, which operates Monday Friday, 7a.m. 5p.m.
Producers should be encouraged to return their applications to Agricorp as soon as possible to ensure timely delivery of payments.
The application deadline is November 15, 2007
Agricorp is offering information sessions for grain and oilseed producers on the Risk Management Program (RMP) across Ontario in early November.
These sessions are primarily intended to provide eligible producers with information as they decide whether RMP will meet their individual business risk management needs. The deadline for submitting applications is November 15, 2007, and the sessions will take place between November 5, and November 12, 2007 in Woodstock, Ridgetown, Elmwood, Kemptville, Alfred, Coldstream, Alliston, and Douro.
Announced by the Ontario government on August 22, 2007, the Risk Management Program will help grain and oilseed producers offset losses from low commodity prices.
