Coming Up in Eastern Ontario – October 17th, 2007
Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs staff in Eastern Ontario are currently organizing a bilingual poultry industry conference for Eastern Ontario broiler and egg producers. The conference is scheduled for Wednesday, October 17th, 2007 at the St-Isidore Recreation Centre (Centre récréatif de St-Isidore) in St-Isidore, Ontario.
One of the objectives of the conference will be to broiler and egg producers and other stakeholders with useful and up-to-date information on the poultry industry. Another objective will be to bring poultry producers and other stakeholders together under one roof to allow for an exchange of information.
The conference will be conducted in both English and French with simultaneous translation. It is our hope to attract all broiler and egg producers from Eastern Ontario and Western Québec to this event. Topics being covered should be of common interest to both our broiler and egg sectors.
The morning session will include a presentation from Mr. François Jacques, Operations Manager with AgriGesco on "Novel Approaches to Manure Management". Following this presentation, Mr. Bill Groot-Nibbelink of OMAFRA will cover the topic "Deadstock Disposal – What’s Legal, What Works, What’ Coming". The morning session will conclude with a talk on "International Trade Implication for the Canadian Poultry Industry" by Mr. Yves Ruel of the Chicken Farmers of Canada.
The afternoon session will start off with the keynote address by Dr. Paul Patterson of Pennsylvania State University who will talk about "Nutrition and Feeding Management". Dr. Sonja Laurendeau of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency will follow with a presentation on "Avian Influenza".
