This will be the last OMAF AgriNews section I will be coordinating. I have accepted a position as one of the five Nutrient Management Specialists for Ontario. I will still be located in the Kemptville OMAF Resource Centre. In my new position I will work with farm clients who will be subject to the Nutrient Management Act in an education and advisory role. As well we will work with other stakeholders such as Municipal contacts and rural residents to make them aware of the act and regulations.
It will be close to 13 years that I have worked with the OMAF submission for AgriNews. Over the years it has taken on a different look from a county by county presentation to the look we have today with more emphasis on management and information articles. This project has created a lot of networks and rewarding experiences for me. It has also been a pleasure to work with an editor and staff at the Chesterville Record. Their cooperation in providing space for the OMAF news has been greatly appreciated. Over the next month, a decision will be made on who will be the new OMAF AgriNews contact. In my new role I will continue to contribute articles to the AgriNews but with a focus on Nutrient Management.
