Sept. 16 and Oct. 28, are the scheduled dates for Stocker Sales at the Galetta Sales Barn. Auctioneer is Stewart James.
To build on the success of last years sale a section of the October 28, 2000 sale will again feature "Value Added Calves". Producers who consign calves for this part of the sale must guarantee them castrated, dehorned and double vaccinated.
The results of a University of Guelph research project on fall sales indicated "Value Added Calves" were a win - win situation for the Ontario beef industry. Participating calf producers capture a premium on well managed calves and feedlot operators found less health problems and costs.
If you are interested in either of these two sales contact your local Cattlemen’s Stocker Sale Director or any of the "Value Added Calf Sale" committee Ken Timmins 613 256-2534; Bill Gagan 613 432-6525; Alec MacGregor 613 283-8054.
