Several agri-industry partners both from the private and public sector have formed a "Centre for Family Farm Succession". The centre is located in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Business at the University of Guelph. The focus of the centre is to work partners and industry to develop specific training programs, resources and other activities regarding farm succession and its planning. The Centre is working to increase the awareness of the farming community and family farm members to the issues and needs around succession planning. Richard Cressman is working on a project to identify sills and training needs of professionals who provide service to farm families.
The Centre is also working with the Centre for Family Business at the University of Waterloo in developing programs and initiatives.
