Should agriculture be removed from OMAFRA's name?

    The Editor

At the present time we are not farming.

Nevertheless farming is of vital interest to myself and my husband.

One of your freelance writers (JC Kenney) has done excellent articles about the KP corridor which is currently owned by Bell Canada.

There is wide-spread unrest amongst farmers both along this corridor and the Cataraqui Trail. Would you and your staff have the nerve to take on a government ministry namely OMAFRA? This ministry is more concerned with trails than agriculture.

In one of their last communiques of May 19th, OMAFRA says more about successful rail trails and their subsequent funding than they do about successful farming. Agriculture should be removed from their title as they couldn’t care less. With no offence to anyone, probably the people in control are only associated with farming from going to the petting zoos in the local malls. This is an issue which has been ongoing for 13 years and we would all like to get on with our lives without the threat of more trails seriously devaluating our farms and homes. Your magazine made the first step with your wonderful articles now are you willing to take it further?.
