Low Cost Housing, Renovations And Expansions (Rescheduled)
Less than 10 people had registered for this course by the deadline date so we have rescheduled it to March to March 7 and 8, 2000. The seminar is designed to assist producers with low cost ideas for expansion, renovation and improving existing dairy facilities. Day One will be held in the Avonmore OMAFRA Boardroom and Day 2 will feature farm tours to look at some of the ideas local producers are implementing to improve cow comfort, ventilation and low cost expansions.
The course starts at 9:30 am on March 7. Harold House, OMAFRA Dairy Structures Engineer from Clinton will discuss issues in planning for renovating and expanding in the tie stall, ventilation considerations and new thoughts on stall design. Dr. Neil Anderson, OMAFRA Cattle Health Consultant has just completed a study on cow comfort including video footage of cow behavior and performance and he will share some of his thoughts and solutions to the observations from the videos.
The cost will be $35 and includes lunch and resources for day one. On the farm tour day lunch will be on your own. To register call the OMAFRA office in Winchester.
