  John DeVries heads EBI

KEMPTVILLE -- Well-known and respected dairy producer, John DeVries of Bowmanville, was elected by his peers to head up Eastern Breeders first 10-member Board of Directors. Upon his appointment, the new president said, "Looking forward I am excited to work with the new board and Senior Management as one team for the betterment of each and every producer across our membership."

John and his wife, Alice, own and operate Willdina Holsteins and Jerseys just outside Bowmanville, Ontario. The herd, with some elite pedigreed and indexing cattle, is a popular tour stop for international guests and has enjoyed great success in both the Holstein and Jersey show rings.

A farmer-owned corporation, based in Kemptville, Ontario, EBI brought Prince Edward Island on board in 2009 and also serves dairy and beef breeders in Eastern Ontario, New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Joining DeVries him on the new executive are 1st VP President Charles Bennett (Kemptville -Zone 7), 2nd VP Alan Brown (Entreprise -Zone 9) and Past

President Brian Wilson (NB - Zone 3). Completing the new Board in 2010_2011 are Crosbie Williams (NL-Zone1), Wayne Dickieson (PEI-Zone 2), Warren MacIntosh (Glengarry/Prescott -Zone 4), Joe Krol (Dundas/Stormont -Zone 5), Bruce Hill (Carleton/Russell -Zone 6), and John Straathof (Lanark/Renfrew- Zone 7).

The new stream-lined board, having moved in 2010 from 18 to 10 members the retirement of 2009-2010 past President and 12 year member Barry Boothe.

Also leaving the board were Kevin Allen, Reg Gilmer, Mel McLean, Edward Huffman, Dave Prinzen, John Beerwort Jr. and Daryl Ziebarth.
